About Our Small Groups Small group ministry at Bethany follows the New Testament model of healthy Biblical community. God builds healthy Biblical community through our commitment to:
Our Vision: To see each person become a fully devoted follower of Christ saved by grace Values: Follower of Jesus – We find our lives in Jesus and value inviting others to follow. A disciple understands that salvation is by grace through faith and confirms their faith by daily walking in the promises of their baptism. Advancing in Christ-likeness – We value maturing in Christ. A disciple knows that faith creates within us the desire to become more like Christ. We connect ourselves to Christ, the True Vine, through the habits of personal devotions, prayer, Scripture reading, worship, fellowship with Christian brothers and sisters, service, and personal witnessing. This is a life-long process that the Holy Spirit completes within us, each in a unique way and in God’s time. In Community – We value building Christian community. It is not possible to be a Christian by yourself. We weren’t created that way. Jesus called the church his body and gave us all gifts so that by serving together (with each gift needed) we might build each other up and bring glory to our Father in Heaven. Spiritual growth, care, and mission can only happen in community. That means that in addition to corporate worship a disciple needs to gather regularly with other believers for mutual encouragement, support, accountability, and service. Treasures Shared – We value learning to become good stewards of our time, talents, and money. We value teaching that giving is both a response to God’s love and an expression of love for our neighbors. We learn to give to specific needs both locally and globally. Helping and Serving – We value learning to serve as Jesus served. We look for specific ways to include hands-on serving projects throughout the year.
